Faith Formation Grades 1 – 8

Children are expected  to receive a Catholic upbringing in their family life, to worship regularly at Sunday Mass, and to receive ongoing religious education in the years preceding the reception of Penance, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Our students meet at 8:30 AM at Sacred Heart for Religious Education. Students and their families  then attend the Sunday 10 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Church together. Classes generally meet two Sundays per month.

Many families with first graders do not realize that just as their child is ready to take the big step into first grade in elementary school, they also are ready to begin our Faith Formation Program. Our Parish curriculum helps them to begin to understand some of the more basic beliefs our the Catholic Faith and it is the crucial foundation as they advance into second grade and prepare for both Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Preparation for First Holy Communion is a two year program, beginning in the first grade.

Please call the parish office to obtain registration information if your child is new to our program. This applies to both first grade, and any grade level. Please note that preparation to receive First Holy Communion requires attendance at both the first and second grade level of our program.
Classes for the 2025 – 2026 school year begin on September 7th, 2025. Registration forms were sent out to both new and returning families with students in the parish.

Confirmation for High School Students

Our Confirmation Preparation Program is a two year high school program. Classes generally meet twice per month on Sunday Mornings at Sacred Heart Church. See the “CONFIRMATION” Page for Registration Form and complete information.

RCIA

The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for those who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic tradition of Eucharist and Confirmation.

RCIA is a process that incorporates the study of the Gospels, Catholic Christian teaching; the acceptance of Christian values and morality; and the development and deepening of a life of prayer and action with the support and involvement of the local Christian community. The RCIA is more than a course of instruction. It is a process of conversion, designed to meet the unique and individual needs of the participants.

   Who is RCIA designed for?

  • Non-Catholics who want to find out more about the Catholic Faith
  • Those who want to join the Catholic Church through Baptism, or Profession of Faith
  • Those who were baptized Catholic as infants but never received religious education, Confirmation, or First Eucharist.
  • How do I begin ?
  • If you are interested, please make arrangements to speak with Father Peter about the process and where to start.

Adult Bible Study

Throughout the year Bible Study takes place at Saint Bridget Church at 7 PM in the Church Hall on the first and the third Thursday of each month.  All adults are welcome to explore the beauty of the written word and discuss meanings and how we can live the word of God in our lives.
